Laser removal of pigment spots

Hyperpigmentation is brown, brownish patches that are darker than the normal colour of the skin. Pigmented spots are caused by an increase in melanin production. Melanin is a pigment that gives colour to the skin, hair and eyes. Melanin production is intensified by exposure to sunlight, age, use of certain medications, hormonal changes in the body, and skin trauma.

Hyperpigmentation can take many forms. The most common types are:

  • Age spots – can appear as small darkened areas anywhere on the body that is frequently exposed to the sun, such as on the arms, hands, shoulders, chest, back or face.
  • Injury-related hyperpigmentation – the most common type of hyperpigmentation associated with acne. This type of pigmentation occurs in areas where the skin has healed, leaving a darkened patch.
  • Melasma – large, dark, irregularly shaped patches on the face and hands, most often occurring during pregnancy due to hormonal changes.

The pigmented spots that appear expand over the years, affecting a larger and larger area of the skin, causing aesthetic discomfort and discomfort. The Laser Dermatology Centre performs IPS (Intense Pulsed Light) laser treatments, after which the pigmented spots become less pronounced or are completely removed. This hyperpigmentation treatment will act as an effective treatment for sun-damaged skin, remove freckles and reduce dark spots and sun spots. As it is an IPL treatment, along with the removal of pigment spots, there is also a skin rejuvenation effect, with a brighter, clearer and more even skin tone after the course of treatment.
