What is biorevitalization?
Biorevitalization is an effective skin hydration treatment that involves microinjections of high concentrations of hyaluronic acid into the dermis (middle layer of the skin). Biorevitalization causes short-term micro-damage to the skin and the skin responds with long-term production of collagen and elastin fibres. Hyaluronic acid begins to break down under the skin, creating the conditions for the proliferation of fibroblasts, which are responsible for collagen synthesis. During the biorevitalization procedure, the skin is biologically revitalised in the deeper layers. Hyaluronic acid improves skin cell turnover, epidermal tone and provides intense hydration for dry, tired, sun-damaged skin. Thus, the skin begins a natural skin renewal process, resulting in a reduction of fine lines, a more natural facial contour, a clearer, smoother and firmer complexion. Patient feedback on the biorevitalization procedure is the best, as the effects of the procedure are immediate and the results are visible right away.
Biorevitalization is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedure that restores skin functions. It is an innovative skin revitalisation programme. The use of hyaluronic preparations in aesthetic dermatology ensures excellent results.
What is hyaluronic acid and how is it useful?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the human body, whose function is to maintain the moisture balance in tissues. Hyaluronic acid is abundant in the skin, joint fluid, blood vessel walls and other organs. As we age, hyaluronic acid depletes, causing wrinkles and loss of radiance, which is why hyaluronic acid injections are an effective, quick and convenient way to maintain healthy and beautiful skin.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that fills the intercellular tissue and maintains the moisture balance in the skin. Aesthetic dermatology uses non-animal hyaluronic acid, which can attract up to 500 water molecules per molecule. Since hyaluronic acid injections interact well with the skin and have few side effects, it is a very popular and well-liked procedure among patients, which does not alter the facial features, but naturally rejuvenates and renews the skin from within.
Biorevitalization is performed by:
- For the prevention of skin ageing;
- Before and after procedures that damage the integrity of the skin (chemical peels, dermabrasion, laser procedures, plastic surgery);
- Biorevitalization is recommended before and after holidays in warm countries where the sun’s rays are very active;
- For tired, puffy skin (especially for smokers);
- After stress;
- In case of malnutrition;
- After childbirth;
- For the correction of fine wrinkles;
- Restoring skin elasticity;
- To achieve a young skin effect;
- Correction of scars, stretch marks.
Side effects are very rare and are related to individual hypersensitivity.
Slight redness, swelling at the injection site may occur. Herpes infection also occurs in rare cases.
Where can biorevitalization be performed?
Biorevitalization can be performed on the face, neck, cleavage and other areas. Often, patients wish to have the treatment performed separately only on the eyebrows, lips or hands. Most commonly, a full facial biorevitalization or an under-eye biorevitalization is performed. It can be performed anywhere on the body (e.g. abdomen, thighs, buttocks) if required. The active substances are resorbed gradually, so the effects are long-lasting. After the course of treatments, the treatment should be repeated after 3, 6 and 9 months to maintain the effect. However, after the first treatment the result is already visible, and after 2-3 treatments the lasting effect of the treatment is visible.
How is biorevitalization performed?
Hyaluronic acid is injected into the middle layer of the skin using a thin needle. If necessary, the area to be biorevitalized is anaesthetised with a topical anaesthetic cream. Immediately after the procedure, papules remain and disappear within a few days. The skin may become slightly swollen or red after the treatment. The procedure lasts 30-60 minutes, depending on the area.
How to prepare for the procedure?
There is no special preparation before the biorevitalization treatment. However, it is recommended that you do not take aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for a week before the procedure. It is also always recommended that our clients undergo a deep cleansing of the facial skin in order to prevent clogging of the facial pores and to allow the skin to absorb the hyaluronic acid much better.
Post-treatment skin care
After a biorevitalization treatment, it is recommended to:
- Use a special cream prescribed by your doctor. The special cream helps to rebuild the epidermis, soothes irritated skin, stimulates cell renewal and helps to maintain the results of the treatment for longer. The cream should be applied several times a day;
- 6 hours after the biorevitalization, you must not touch, massage or urinate on the area where the treatment was carried out;
- If the skin is red or swollen, refrigerate the injection sites;
- Avoid sauna, sauna, swimming pool, UV rays for one week after the treatment. It is essential to use a protective cream with SPF50;
- Make-up should be applied to the face at least 12 hours after the procedure;
- Sleep on your back;
- Alcohol consumption is not recommended for at least one week after the procedure. Alcohol dilates the capillaries, raises blood pressure and accelerates blood clotting. Hyaluronic acid can leach out from deep layers of the skin.
Biorevitalization is not performed:
- In case of inflammation in the area, infectious diseases;
- In case of diseases related to skin irradiation, such as: – during pregnancy, lactation;
- When there is an elevated body temperature;
- Uncontrolled epileptic seizures are possible;
- When anticoagulants or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used.
How does biorevitalization differ from mesotherapy?
Biorevitalization and mesotherapy are very popular treatments in aesthetic dermatology for various skin problems. Biorevitalization usually uses pure hyaluronic acid, while mesotherapy uses a special cocktail based on hyaluronic acid and enriched with vitamins, minerals and other beneficial elements. During the mesotherapy treatment, the product is selected specifically for each client according to the condition, type and problem of the face. After biorevitalization, the effect is visible immediately, usually with a course of 2 to 4 treatments. Mesotherapy is only visible after a few treatments, which is why it is usually repeated 5 to 10 times. Biorevitalization involves injections to reach the deeper layers of the skin, while mesotherapy involves injections to reach the superficial layer of the skin. Mesotherapy is more recommended for dry, tight skin. Biorevitalization is more suitable for deeper wrinkles, lack of moisture and general loss of skin tone.
In some cases, both treatments can be combined.
